Kabini National Park – Ultimate Guide to Stay Options and Booking

Guide to Kabini National Park

In Kabini National Park, where private stay options abound, we opted for a unique experience by booking a stay at the government-run Kabini Forest Lodge. Our package included a one-night stay in a charming bungalow room, along with hi-tea and dinner on the first day, and breakfast on the second day. Additionally, we enjoyed one evening safari and one morning safari, all for just 10,000 INR per person (20,000 INR for a couple).

Upon arriving at Bangalore airport from Mumbai, you have two options to reach Kabini National Park.

  1. Take a direct bus to Coorg and then hire a private vehicle to Kabini.
  2. Take a bus to Mysore and then hire a private vehicle to Kabini. This option allows you to explore Mysore and its sights before heading to Kabini.

Opting for the second option, we took a bus from Bangalore airport to Mysore at a cost of 900 INR per person. These VOLVO buses operate between Bangalore airport and both Mysore and Coorg.

After reaching Mysore, we continued our journey to Coorg by car, with a friend accompanying us. From Coorg, we hired a private taxi for a round trip to Kabini National Park, which amounted to 3000 INR for two days. For our return journey, we opted for a direct bus from Coorg to Bangalore airport, priced at 1200 INR per person.

Banjaaraa Couple’s Review of Kabini National Park ( 4.5/5 )

The government-run lodge exceeded our expectations with its impeccable maintenance. We were particularly pleased with the arrangements made throughout the property and its ideal location right on the banks of the Kabini river inside Kabini National Park, offering a rustic and adventurous ambiance. For those seeking an extra thrill, a Coracle ride in the river is a must-try. Surrounded by lush greenery, the lodge also provides excellent opportunities for birdwatching around the resort.

The rooms at the lodge are incredibly spacious and expansive, providing a luxurious experience reminiscent of a Victorian-style bungalow. The facilities offered are of high quality and quite decent, adding to the overall comfort and satisfaction of the stay.

The lodge features a charming bar area, slightly secluded from the rest of the resort, yet exuding a classic ambiance. Whether you prefer to savor your drink outdoors in the open air or indoors within the cozy confines of the room, the experience is truly delightful. This unique setup sets it apart from other resorts we’ve visited, leaving a lasting impression.

The food offered at the lodge was satisfactory, with a variety of options to choose from. The dining area, situated by the river, provides a picturesque view, enhancing the overall dining experience with its serene surroundings.

Overall, the lodge offers a fantastic opportunity to immerse oneself in nature and unwind. Highly recommended for those seeking rejuvenation amidst serene surroundings
