Kabini offers a plethora of stay options, most of which are private. But we decided to go and book a government run lodge – Kabini forest lodge. We booked the lodge for one night that included a bungalow room for a night, hi-tea and dinner for day one, breakfast for day2 with one evening safari and one morning safari for the second day – all for the price of 10000 INR per person (20000 INR for a couple).

Travel to Kabini Forest Lodge and fro:
We took a flight from Mumbai to Bangalore. There are 2 options to reach Kabini from Bangalore airport:
- Take a direct bus to Coorg and hire a private vehicle further to Kabini
- Take a bus to Mysore and hire a private vehicle further to Kabini (with this option you can spend some time in Mysore sight seeing)
We took the second option. The bus from Airport to Mysore cost us 900 INR per person. There are VOLVO buses plying from the Bangalore airport to Mysore and Coorg. Bookings for these can be done online via Make My Trip (https://www.makemytrip.com/bus-tickets) OR KSRTC site (https://ksrtc.in/oprs-web/)
We drove from Mysore to Coorg with a friend accompanying us and from Coorg we hired a private taxi to Kabini for 2 days -to and fro- which cost us 3000 INR. On our return, we took a direct bus from Coorg to Bangalore airport (1200/- per person).
Banjaaraa Couple’s Review ( 4.5/5 )
This government run lodge is really well maintained. We were quite happy with the arrangements done around the property along with the location of the resort which is right on the banks of Kabini river giving you a very rustic and adventurous feel. If you like it, you can even enjoy a Coracle ride in the river. The property is lush green and you can enjoy some birding as well around the resort.

Rooms are huge and very spacious. Designed in victorian style, you get a feeling as if you are staying in a plush bungalow. Facilities are pretty decent.
There is a Bar area which is a little secluded than the rest of the resort but its really classic. You can enjoy a drink while sitting outside in the open or inside within the room. We really liked it. It was very different than the ones we had seen in other resorts.

Food was okay with good enough options to choose from. Dining area is by the river so it has pretty nice view.
All in all it is a great place to enjoy sometime amidst nature and get rejuvenated. Fully recommended.
